U Fistinu

U Fistinu (The Feast of Saint Rosalia) fills Palermo, Italy, each July with a dramatic blend of faith, procession, theater, and fireworks honoring Saint Rosalia, the city’s patron saint, whose intercession is credited with ending Palermo’s plague. Celebrating both deliverance and civic identity, it is known for its towering festive float, the cry of “Viva Palermo e Santa Rosalia!”, the procession through the historic center, and traditional street food that turns the city into one vast sacred-and-secular stage.
